Guide d'entretien des meubles

Introduction

At Heysen Ebeniste, we design durable and refined furniture to enhance your home. To preserve their beauty and longevity, maintenance adapted to each material is essential. This guide will assist you with the daily and seasonal care of your furniture.

Solid Wood Care

Solid wood, particularly the parawood used in our coffee tables and side tables, requires special attention. Wipe surfaces with a slightly damp soft cloth, then dry immediately to prevent moisture from penetrating. Avoid abrasive household products or those containing alcohol. Apply a natural wood oil or wax twice a year to nourish the wood and maintain its luster. Protect your furniture from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can cause cracking or discoloration.

Care for Oak and Stained Wood Furniture

Our black oak furniture, such as our lift-top coffee table, benefits from delicate care. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth following the direction of the grain. For stains, use a cloth slightly dampened with warm water only. Avoid prolonged exposure to humidity or sudden changes in temperature.

Leather Care (Sofas and Chaise Longues)

Our full-grain leather sofas and white faux leather furniture require regular care to maintain their suppleness and appearance. Wipe surfaces with a soft, clean cloth. Use a suitable leather cleaner, followed by a leather conditioner, every three to six months. Avoid products based on solvents, ammonia, or alcohol. Position your furniture away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight to prevent cracking.

Fabric Care (Sofas, Armchairs, Benches, and Ottomans)

Our fabric recliner armchairs, upholstered benches, and velvet ottomans require gentle and regular maintenance. Regularly vacuum cushions and surfaces with an attachment suitable for fabrics. In case of a stain, blot (without rubbing) immediately with a clean absorbent cloth. For deeper cleaning, consult the manufacturer's instructions or call a professional. Removable covers can generally be machine washed at a low temperature.

Tempered Glass Care

Our tables with tempered glass tops, notably the round glass table and the round dining table, are easy to maintain. Clean the top with a glass cleaner or a mixture of water and white vinegar and a lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges or powdered cleaners that could scratch the surface. Always use coasters or trivets to protect the glass from thermal shock.

Metal Care (Frames, Legs, and Structures)

The metal structures of our bar stools, side tables, and L-shaped desks must be maintained to prevent corrosion. Wipe them with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. For gold or chrome finishes, use only special mild metal products. Avoid highly humid environments.

Storage Furniture Care

Our storage furniture, such as TV stands, bathroom cabinets, and desks, often combines several materials. Avoid overloading shelves beyond their indicated capacity. Clean the interior of cabinets and drawers with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Regularly check hinges, slides, and mechanisms (especially lift-tops) and apply a light touch of suitable lubricant if necessary.

General Tips

Always use protective pads under furniture legs to preserve your floors. Avoid moving furniture by dragging it—lift it slightly to avoid twisting the joints. If in doubt about a cleaning product, test it on a non-visible area before application. Regular, preventive maintenance is always better than restoration.
